New Google Phone Nexus One!

Google has thrown down the gauntlet, officially entering the phone sales market with it’s Nexus One. Google’s latest venture aims to go head-to-head with Apple’s industry leading iPhone. While most would see that as quite the feat (myself included), one cannot deny how good and powerful this handset looks. I’m not an expert when it comes to phones, I own and use (and couldn’t live without) an iPhone – but in terms of the specifics, I am simply an admiring consumer.
Quick facts compared to the iPhone: The Nexus One is thinner and lighter. It’s faster. It has a 5 mega-pixel camera, flash and 2x optical zoom. It has a bigger screen and a higher resolution. It can open multiple applications at one time.
Knowing the iPhone as well as I do, I think those are pretty impressive enhancements. The iPhone’s size, weight and speed are pretty impressive as they are, so to think that Google have managed do better, is pretty cool. Further more, one of the iPhone’s biggest disappointments is the camera and lack of flash – so again, kudos to Google.
I’m not 100% convinced that Google will be able to compete too much with Apple’s iPhone. The fact that everyone is still trying to beat the iPhone says it all. I’ve yet to see a phone since the iPhone, including The Nexus One, that stands out or stands alone next to Apple’s offering. Instead they all look more like imitators, as opposed to innovators.
Do you think Nexus One can take on the iPhone?
