Can I Get A Sample?....

Sting's "Shape Of My Heart" has to bring emotion to the musical lover's ear. With compelling lyrics that DAMN acoustic guitar that won't leave your soul, Sting struck a nerve with this one on my part. From the "Ten Summoner's Tales" album, which contained two U.S. hits; "If I Ever Lose My Faith in You" reached #17 on the Billboard Hot 100 and "Fields of Gold" reached #23 taking the album to 3x's platinum. Although "Shape Of My Heart" failed to stick on the better side of the charts (Other than #57 on the U.K. Singles charts) that sample was one to remember and we would soon hear it again.

From 93' with Sting to 96'..Nas pressed out the classic album "It Was Written". Following the moderate sales success of his acclaimed debut album, Illmatic (1994), Nas chose to focus his efforts in a more mainstream direction. With that being said, that sample which took to shaping our hearts from the beginning made its way back with "The Message" Hip hop heads and many alike saw #2 as a underrated classic...as do I....

(This sample was also used on Carl Thomas' 2005 title track from his "Emotional" Album")
