Uh...Who is this Ms.A?..I can hear it now ringing through the blog. This man Mike Oldfield, has been heard lately in about 550,000-600,000 of your cars, stereos, and computers over this last week, but many of you may not have known it. First, I'll give brief history...
Via his Wiki, Oldfield is an English multi-instrumentalist musician and composer, working a style that blends progressive rock, folk, ethnic or world music, classical music, electronic music, New Age, and more recently, dance. In 1987 he released his album "Crises". From the album, the song "In high Places" was heard but not completely recognized being that it didnt stand out.....

...Until Kanye's "My Dark Twisted Fantasy" the #1 track titled "Dark Fantasy" samples Oldfield's track like none other, At first listen one might not think this is a sample because of the realness it shows, but check it out for yourself...

ReplyDeletewell I won't go too deep being that I don't want to be considered bias in any form being that my fiance worked on this album, but I think its the second best with #1 being 808's. I Say that because 808's came at a point where noone expected it from Kanye and from a rapper that went from "Graduation" to 808's shows so much growth and artistic ability from him. that album was stamped in the ground as "Kanye The Artist" and not just Kanye. This new album expanded his artistic ability and shows that he's not just a rapper in any form and the 808's sound wasn'tjust a fluke he's in his own lane now.

ReplyDeleteOk ok I will tell you I wanted to go see family but being that it was such short notice I cooked for Mike couldn't find a turkey so I cooked: a glazed Ham baked mac N cheese Cornbread cabbage deviled eggs and potatoe salad sweet potatoes rice pilaf green beans and peach cobbler.

ReplyDeleteI don't know about the best from 2000-2010 because I'm breaking down Alter Bridge's latest album Kings Of Leon Only by the night was incredible and there are so many more but I will say those two albums (Kanye's) are the most artistic I've heard in a while

ReplyDeleteThere's other albums that dont get mentioned on here are anywhere really that are classics.Because that new Leon Russell and Elton John is classic and masterful of any of the CD's you named.Just because it was not mentioned on here are places that do alot of the mainstream music there's gems out there that are special.Theres alot of great fucking music being made out there still.
