Male R&B...On The Rise Or A Thing Of The Past...

Male R&B..A Major thing in the 90's with the Rise of R.Kelly, the soothing sounds of the (then) newby Maxwell. D'Angelo gave you some "Brown Sugar" Tevin Cambell told you he was "Ready" and you couldn't get away from the soulful, honest, yet so humble sounds of Brian Mcknight.. Fast forward to the end of the 90's Ginuwine broke the mode with unique beats by Timbaland, Donell Jones had his smash album "Where I wanna Be" and the Coca Cola guy named Tyrese made us all "Sweet Ladies".

R&B males were on the rise but not ready for what was to come... 2004 on a breezy March night Usher Broke the door down to "Confess" to all 10 million plus what he was going through and from up the street the golden star that was Chris Brown hollered "Yo" and wouldn't let up until we found out that then he was the one to "Run it"...

Unlike the days of the 60's and 70's when we had your Frankie Beverly's, Al Green's,Sam Cooke's, Smokey Robinson, Philip Bailey, and the one and only Marvin Gaye. Male R&B seems like just a dream here in the year of 2010... With select pickings and Some that can't even hold a full note in concert,The legends that were of the 60's and 70's can't help but to roll in their graves(or wheelchairs) If they were to hear what it is, that is Male R&B now so the question is....Do you guys think that Male R&B will ever reign supreme again or do you think its a dying genre?

  11. I agree there were WAY more names but I wrote this off the top of my head so forgive me if I didn't mention other names. But now a days everyone wants to compete against eachother to the core and don't want to come together as a force to get on top...So until then I say its basically dead..So sad
