Mrs. Twain...."Your Still The One"
When you think of the last name Twain,2 people come to mind... Mark Twain the very popular aurthor who wrote "Adventures of Huckleberry Finn (1884) but since I nor you guys were around then, now is the time to get to the infamous Shania Twain. A country music Executive's dream, Shania Twain rode in on her canadian horse with her self titled 1993 album which ultimately sold a million copies out the gate, "The Woman in me" released in 1995 which did pretty well for a then newby of country music (Pretty well as in 12 million copies sold LOL)
"You're Still the one"
but With Shania and company around her knowing that she could be the one to change country music for the "Umpteenth" time, When shiny Suits and many of the Bad boy crew telling you "Can't nobody hold me down" Mrs. Twain thought the exact same thing. 1997-98' Shania quietly whispered in the ranks of 39 million people's ear "Come on Over"..and that we did, the album would eventually make Shania one of the most successful crossover artists of all time (Crossing over from deep country to worldwide success) the first single "You're still the one"(Which makes my heart drop each and everytime I hear it) peaking at number 2, but never quite getting those extra points to get to number one. At the 1999 Grammy's the Country world would sing her praises with her capturing "Best Country Song" and "Best Female Country Vocal Performance" and lost Record of the Year and Song of the Year to Celine Dion's "My Heart Will Go On". (Which is another conversation)
Going forward with Shania being one of the most successful country artists of all time and her album "Come Over" being the the 9th bestselling album in the U.S, I quote her " We might have took the long way/ we knew we'd get there some day". The want for Shania's music still exsists in myself and I bet a nice amount of her fans all over. Shania isn't done showing her face on the tube though, In April 2010, Twain announced plans for her own TV show, entitled Why Not? With Shania Twain. The show is scheduled to debut in early 2011 on OWN.
But the question still remains, With new comers Carrie Underwood and Taylor Swift gearing towards the goal that Shania hit will she return to her roots with country music and capture our hearts once again?...just know Mrs. Twain, on that faithful day SAU will be knocking... ;)
Additional info: "Shania Twain" the album went 2x's platinum in Canada and Platinum in the U.S
"The Woman In Me" went 2x's diamond in Canada, 12x's platinum in the U.S, platinum in the U.K and 2x's in Australia
"UP" did 18 million world wide
