The Mass Senate Race......

Democrats scrambled over the weekend to stave off defeat in a closer-than-expected Massachusetts Senate race that has raised Republican hopes of dealing a crippling blow to President Barack Obama's health care reform agenda and other top domestic policy priorities.
Just how much voters have soured since Obama took over a country in chaos a year ago is reflected in the president's last-minute decision to rush to Massachusetts on Sunday to campaign for the embattled Democratic Senate candidate, state Attorney General Martha Coakley.
Polls show Coakley and Republican state Sen. Scott Brown are locked in a dead heat heading into Tuesday's special election to fill the seat of the late Sen. Edward M. Kennedy, despite the state's long Democratic tradition and his stature as a party icon.
Just 14 months ago, Obama cruised to victory in Massachusetts by 26 percentage points over Republican presidential candidate John McCain. The state last elected a Republican to the U.S. Senate in 1972.
But Republican activists nationally became energized after polls showed Brown surging from a double-digit deficit to catch up with Coakley and still gaining momentum. They have poured volunteers and money into the campaign.

  16. Historically Mass has been a solid blue state for years but the Republicans so a chink in the armor because the Democratic Candidate Ms.Martha Coakley in my opinion is a very weak canidate and not liked at all in the state

  18. By the time the Dems realized that they were down which was about a week ago mind you. They started to bring the heavy hitters to the state including President Obama. But its simply to little to late now it looks like Sen.Scott Brown is going to win by double digits.

  19. Now this is a disaster for the Democratic Party and President Obama because the Dems will no longer have the majority in the Senate.

  20. As far as the health care bill in my opinion it will still pass but President Obama is gonna have to force it through the house which he did not want to do.

  21. But Sen. Scott Brown will be a thorn in the Presidents side because whatever President Obama says he will go against. The President can say that the sky is blue but Sen.Brown will argue that its green!
