Sting Announces Rainforest Benefit Concert.....

Elton John, Lady Gaga and Shirley Bassey will help Sting help the rainforest at Carnegie Hall May 13.

This year’s event is more than just another benefit. The concert will also commemorate the 21st anniversary of the Rainforest Fund founded by Sting and his wife Trudie Styler in 1989 in response to a Kayapo Indian leader’s direct request for help to preserve his people’s land and culture in Brazil. So far, the Fund has worked with more than 100 local organizations, resulting in the protection of more than 115,000 square kilometers of rainforest.

Because this is a charity event, there are several different ticket packages available that include the show and the post-concert dinner, such as a package of 16 tickets priced at $50,000 and individual concert/dinner tickets going for $2,500. Those interested in one of the packages should download a ticket reply form from the Rainforest Foundation Web site. All other seats will become available by mid-April.
